Grants Program Management: The Celebrate Life Foundation

AmPhil helped CLF build a focused giving strategy and provided hands-on support in making their vision a reality.
Meaningful giving requires both strategy and execution. The CLF family needed to refine their family giving approach and establish a system for managing grants that would reflect their priorities and further the education causes they cared most about in the Chicago and Phoenix areas.

The Challenge

The CLF family needed to revisit their giving strategy. The family was concerned their giving was unfocused and may be going to organizations that were inefficient and didn’t reflect their family’s priorities

Our Solution

1. Explore giving options

AmPhil spoke with family members, reviewed historical giving information, and conducted landscape research to identify areas of high need and opportunity within family's passion areas

2. Determine priorities and next steps

AmPhil conducted planning meetings with the family to review research findings, align on giving focus priorities, and make a game plan for how to get there

3. Craft guiding statements

We helped the Foundation articulate its mission, vision, and values, as well as key focus areas and operating guidelines to help inform giving decisions

4. Provide ongoing execution support

AmPhil helped build a giving portfolio aligned with the family's principles and priorities, including identifying potential grantees, reviewing requests, preparing summaries and recommendations for the family, and building strong relationships with grantees to help identify needs and gauge impact

Result

CLF has significantly built up its grants program and now thrives in its giving with a focused strategy matching the family’s intent, clear guiding documents, and a seamless application process that efficiently supports over a dozen private schools serving thousands of students each year.
